The Late Train

The music ensemble originates from Berlin. The Late Train takes its audience on a journey through the music of the late Renaissance to the early Classical period. They are very much interested in historical and free improvisation, contemporary, and electronic music. They carefully select their concert programs to ensure that their performances are a unique experience for the audience. In their approach to music-making, they try to make every piece “their own”, experimenting with affect, playing techniques, always looking for new sound colours, and sometimes going to extremes.

In 2022 began Agnieszka Skorupa (harpsichord, piano) and Semion Gurevich (violin, viola) their collaboration as Duo Agion. They won together early music competitions such as the International Handel Competition in Göttingen (2023) and the Biaggio Marini Competition in Neuburg (2023). In 2023, they started a collaboration with Julia Herzog (recorder) and founded together ensemble – The Late Train, primarily based on improvisation. Shortly after its founding, the musicians won, together with cellist Anna Reisener, the first prize at the Competition for Early Music Ensembles at the University of Arts (Berlin). As part of the prize, they will play concerts at the Kulturfesten im Land Brandenburg (2024). The cellist Chia-Hua Chiang joined the group in 2024.
