Julia Herzog – recorder

Born in a family of musicians Julia was musically inspired since childhood and enjoyed an extensive training of music.

First recorder lessons Julia received from Susanne Seiffert in Berlin. Afterwards she studied with Erik Bosgraaf at Conservatorium van Amsterdam, with Carsten Eckert at Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien and later with Christoph Huntgeburth and Susanne Fröhlich at Universität der Künste Berlin.

Important impulses she received at masterclasses with i.a. Paul Leenhouts, Daniël Brüggen, Maurice Steger, Dorothee Oberlinger, Erik Bosgraaf and Bruce Dickey. As a recorder player Julia Herzog is in demand internationally. She played concerts in Japan, Israel and Europe. Regularly she is playing in Philharmonie Berlin. Past highlights have been performances as a soloist together with Rundfunksinfonieorchester Berlin in the hands of Wladimir Jurowski, Karina Canellakis and Rinaldo Alessandrini, as well as Kammerakademie Potsdam under Václav Luks.

Particularly dear to Julia are the association Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now Berlin e.V. its scholar she is since 2021, the opera project Dorf macht Oper, Julia was participating a lot, as well as her work as a recorder teacher for children at music school Béla Bartók Berlin.

Julia sees music as one of the most profound means of communication. She is intrigued with expressing her love of music especially together with other musicians and to pass it on to her fellow humans.
